Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory

— Dr. Suess

Resilience is a word that has been used to dismiss the plight of the less fortunate. If people are resilient, after all, then we don’t need to inconvenience ourselves by reaching out a helping hand. True resilience, on the other hand, is someone who has been in need and has found the strength to move forward and help others when they face the same need. Jen Valimont embodies this definition.

Her husband passed away after a 9-year battle with colon cancer. Instead of being succumbed by the grief of her loss, she has turned this pain into purpose by making her life’s mission to raise awareness and advocate for prevention of colon cancer. What’s more, she also has a passion for the care of animals and hopes to one day create an animal rescue and foster program. It’s not that her pain isn’t significant, it’s just that she’s used this pain to create good in this world.

Career-wise, Jen spent two decades in the building material industry, wearing a number of hats in her responsibilities. She loved the relationships she built with clients in that industry and is keen to build similar relationships with Dark Horse clients in her new role.

Outside of creating a positive impact in the world and for her clients, Jen loves spending time with her 4-legged children, of which she has 4 (16 legs in total). She also enjoys all things outdoors, jogging, walking with her dogs, going to the lake with family, cruising in her Jeep with the top down, snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and gardening. She also loves the musician Gary Allen and will always find time to go to his concerts.
